The point of any meditation is to relax the body sufficiently to allow you to gain access to the subconscious mind. The part of you that deals with all the automatic things that go on in your body, such as breathing, heartbeat, the immune system with its 'search and destroy' missions, digestion, self healing, things like that.
Your subconscious is there to carry out your deepest thoughts, your deepest held beliefs. It maintains who you are at the very core of your being. Without that safeguard our conscious mind would have us bowing to every whim and fancy presented to us and we would all be like a cork tossed about by the sea. No roots, no purpose, no goals, no desire, no life.
You use this CD, expecially Track 1, to relax the mind and body, to open the chakras and introduce them to laughter. We all know intuitively that laughter is good for us, because we are so easily and fearlessly drawn towards it, anytime we hear it. Whilst in that relaxation phase, you give your unconscious the gift of self analysis, and time to focus on where to heal next. Energizing the chakras provides the means to make this happen. Like recharging a battery and allowing the free flow of energy to where it is needed most. This is where the organizing ability of your unconscious mind comes into play.
Just find a quiet place to sit and relax. Preferrably without distractions like doorbell, TV, phone or radio. You might not be able to do much about visitors knocking, but the others are easily turned off temporarily, while you take the opportunity for some quiet time. That's rich, seeing as the CD is full of chuckles and laughter, but you know what I mean!
I will guide you through a gentle, simple relaxation routine which gives us plenty of time to talk about each of the chakras in turn. To invite you to open your chakras, one by one, and to absorb the healing energies that laughter can create.
Now, if you don't know what chakras are, it really doesn't matter. The FAQ's page has a short explanation, but you do not need to study these in any detail, neither do you have to believe in chakras. For some people, chakras are the product of stuff and nonsense, for others they are the very window to their soul. Whichever side of the fence you are on, please all of us, just accept the idea there is more to the universe than we currently understand and whenever we discover a process that can create a healing response in the body, we should take it over strong chemicals and excessive waiting times, at every opportunity.
I just realized what I said. Disclaimer: Please don't think I am suggesting you do this over visiting your doctor. That is not what I meant at all. See the note below. I do believe in complementary therapy as a wonderful adjunct to orthodox medicine, and as a primary only when orthodox medicine shrugs it's shoulders. Which, believe it or not, is quite often.
Track 2 is the laughter and music just on its own. This is a useful follow-on to track 1 if you want a longer relaxation. It is not, by itself, a relaxation routine as there is no talking, but is useful because it is shorter and can be used after you have practiced with Track 1.
This is good, because without the distraction of talking, your unconscious mind can access the information from the track in whatever way is best for you. You see, by now your unconscious knows what is expected of it, so you can allow your body to create it's own unguided responses, and trust that it is for your greatest good.
I know a few people have put this track in their car stereo and played it whilst driving. They say it helps with their road rage. I don't see any reason why not, the track is not hypnotic in any way. And, if it helps people get from A to B safely, then I'm all for it.
Track 3 is the laughter on its own, with the music and talking stripped out. I know of childrens parties that have been transformed by playing this over and over. The children find it kind of infectious, and can't help laughing too. Not all at once, mind you, but you can look around a room and watch this one, then that one pick up a laugh that resonates with them and off they go. It's absolutely wonderful to see!
